This hand carved urn is made out of Butternut and curly Red Oak. Oil pigments were used to color the clouds, sun, and background.
Finish: MinWax Wipe-On Poly and Johnson's Paste Wax.
Right hand end of urn has an angel desending the stairways to heaven.
The left hand end has an angel ascending and gesturing up the stairways to heaven. Also 3 cherubs are floating in the clouds.
The back of the urn has two putti sounding their horns towards the cross.

This little bowl was carved out of sugar maple and is patterned after a sugar maple leaf.
The oriole and dogwood branch was carved out of basswood. Painting was done with watercolors.

A one of a kind Hygrometer.
I put together a 19th century whaling scene using a scrap piece of walnut that reminded me of a whale.
The hygrometer part is the bent wooden strip attached to a dowel. The specially made strip bends as the moisture in the air changes.
I hand carved the figures in the boat out of basswood and painted them with acrylics. The oars, rudder, and spear are made from copper wire. The boat was carve out of butternut.

A decorative handcarved bowl, carved out of quarter sawn red oak lumber to resemble a red oak leaf with a pair of acorns.

A hand rubbed oil and wax finish was used.
